Internet ports of the server services we offer

Here, I will review and explain the internet ports for VPS and Dedicated servers.

As you can see, each plan states 1Gbps, but this does not mean you will get a guaranteed gigabit port!
If you require such, you need to contact us.

All our internet ports operate on the principle of Shared Port (fair-use).

What does this mean?

Shared Port: This means that several users share the same port. Consequently, internet speed may vary depending on the number of active users and network load at any given moment.

Fair-Use: These are rules or policies that the service provider enforces to prevent abuse and ensure fair distribution of resources. Typically, this means that if a user consumes an excessive amount of available bandwidth over an extended period, the provider may limit their speed to allow other users to access the internet at an acceptable speed.

In short, this means that under normal conditions, you can reach speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s, but the speed may be lower during peak load times.

Below, I will explain what internet connection you need based on the traffic/visitors to your website.

For sites with traffic between 5,000 and 50,000 visits per month, the minimum requirements for the server’s internet connection can vary depending on several factors, such as the type of content, hosting configuration, and expected peak loads. In this case, we are interested in the internet connection:

Small website (5,000 to 10,000 visits per month):

  • Upload speed: Minimum 10 Mbps
  • Download speed: Minimum 50 Mbps

Medium website (10,000 to 25,000 visits per month):

  • Upload speed: Minimum 25 Mbps
  • Download speed: Minimum 100 Mbps

Large website (25,000 to 50,000 visits per month):

  • Upload speed: Minimum 50 Mbps
  • Download speed: Minimum 200 Mbps

If we consider daily traffic from 5,000 to 50,000 visits, this requires more careful consideration of the internet connection and hosting configuration. Here are the internet recommendations for minimum internet connections based on daily traffic:

Small website (5,000 to 10,000 visits daily):

  • Upload speed: Minimum 50 Mbps
  • Download speed: Minimum 200 Mbps

Medium website (10,000 to 25,000 visits daily):

  • Upload speed: Minimum 100 Mbps
  • Download speed: Minimum 500 Mbps

Large website (25,000 to 50,000 visits daily):

  • Upload speed: Minimum 200 Mbps
  • Download speed: Minimum 1 Gbps (gigabit per second)

And here comes the question: why do most hosting providers not explain whether the 1Gbps connection is shared or guaranteed.

The answer is as follows:

When hosting companies advertise a 1Gbit/s connection, they often do not specify whether this speed is shared or not, for several reasons:

  1. Marketing Strategy: Simplifying the information makes the advertisement more attractive to potential customers. Mentioning sharing and fair-use rules may reduce the appeal of the offer.
  2. Common Practice: In the hosting industry, resource sharing is a common practice and it is implied that speeds are shared unless explicitly stated that they are “dedicated” or “unshared”.
  3. Industry Standards: In many cases, it is standard practice to share resources, especially with more affordable hosting plans. Clients looking for guaranteed (dedicated) resources are usually aware that they need to seek and pay for more expensive plans.

Therefore, if you see an advertisement for “1Gbit/s” without additional information, it is reasonable to assume that the speed is likely shared unless explicitly stated otherwise. If you need guaranteed (dedicated) speed, it is advisable to contact us and clarify these details before making your choice.

If this does not answer your questions, you can contact us. We will always provide you with the best consultation for your needs, regardless of whether you choose us or a competitor.
